Caravan
One definition according to the dictionary is" a
group of travelers journeying together through desert or hostile
regions". The other definition is" a group of vehicles traveling in a
file". Our definition is a combination of a little of both. A group of
travelers journeying together sharing a common, fun, safe destination
in file showing off our magnificent Porsches all along the way. Whether
we are parked together at an event of just cruising down the highway we
have a constant group of admirers. Our destinations are often very
diverse, road rallies, car shows, arts festivals or just a lunch at a
popular restaurant that just happens to be owned and operated by Lucy
Buffett, yes Jimmy's sister! So come and join our caravan to a common,
fun and safe destination!
Road Rally
A road rally is an event that takes place on public roads, and abides
by the rules of those roads. Speed is not a factor in a PCA road rally.
Road rally styles vary from checkpoints with clues to find the next
checkpoint, to directions that are designed to be followed explicitly
in order to find the next checkpoint. Road rallies are best
accomplished with a driver and navigator. Road rallies are designed
with comradarie in mind, and the finish line is generally a quality
restaurant for good food and fun with your friends.
A rally can be competitive or for fun. The
objective of a rally is to follow a course, usually on public roads, to
the precise detail specified in the rules. Competitive rallies dictate
a certain schedule for the checkpoints along the way. Points are
deducted by arriving at the checkpoint either early or late. Fun
rallies may include a gimmick (poker rally, regional interest). Part of
the challenge with a fun rally is to discover the intended route, which
may require other skills such as solving a puzzle or looking for
obscure reference points.
